Stablecoins now settle more annual volume than Western Union and PayPal combined. A single data point reframes the entire question of who is rewriting finance.
LKI CEO Maryna Barysheva joined the panel "Finance Is Being Rewritten by Crypto and Bitcoin: Who Wins, Who Gets Left Behind?" at WAIB Summit Monaco on June 10, 2026. Where five industry experts discussed who survives the shift to institutional capital.
The panel:
Julia Stadnyk - INC4 (Moderator)
Dom Kwok - EasyA
Alex Krug - Bitcoin Suisse
Maryna Barysheva - LKI Consulting
Zain Umer - CFC MENA
Gabriel Florent - blobb.io
The retail revenue model is now a liability. Maryna Barysheva, CEO of LKI Consulting, noted that over the past decade, the money has come from retail users. Institutions are moving on-chain now, and the survivors will be the ones that rebuild revenue and product around institutional clients - not the ones waiting for another retail cycle to bail them out.
The firms that once relied on the bridge are now building their own. Krug named the pressure on Bitcoin Suisse directly: the firm that spent a decade as the trusted access point for serious capital. Now BlackRock, Fidelity, and Robinhood offer that same access at scale. Regulatory standing and custody experience take years to earn, not capital to buy - but he was clear that has to be defended.
No single regulator has won the global standard yet. Umer mentioned the contenders - MiCA in Europe, a softening SEC in the US, the UK tokenizing government bonds- but not one has emerged as the global standard. He noted that some established financial-services players will lose their licenses simply because they moved too slowly on tokenization.
The next winners may not be crypto-native at all. Kwok noted that EasyA has trained over a million developers, and that engineers from Microsoft and Google are now showing up at hackathons. To him, the next big projects could come just as easily from outsiders who figured out what a blockchain is good for as from crypto builders.
